As we approach September, the excitement is building up for one of the most anticipated esports events of the year — the League of Legends World Championship 2024. 🌍

This year, the World Championship, known as “Worlds” will be hosted across three iconic European countries: Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. From the historic cities of Berlin and Paris tothe vibrant atmosphere of London, Europe is set to deliver a spectacular stage for this global showdown. 🚀

In the game, two teams of five players battle in PvP combat, each team occupying and defending their half of the map. Each of the ten players controls a character, known as a "champion", with unique abilities and differing styles of play. During a match, champions become more powerful by collecting, earning gold, and purchasing to defeat the opposing team. In League's main mode, Summoner's Rift, a team wins by pushing through to the enemy base and destroying their "Nexus", a large structure located within. (source Wikipedia)

20 teams are invited but before we diveinto the World Championship, let’s take a quick tour of the top regional leagues that pave the way to this grand event.

1. LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea):
    
   • The LCK is home to some of the most skilled and strategic players in the world. Known for their disciplined playstyle and strong macro game, LCK teams are always a force to be reckoned with on the global stage. Teams like T1 and Gen.G are fan favourites, consistently delivering top-tier performances. 4 teams are invited from this region.
 
2. LPL (League of Legends Pro League):
    
   • The LPL represents China, and it’s known for its aggressive, fast-paced gameplay. LPL teams are not afraid to take risks and often lead the meta with innovative strategies. With powerhouses like JD Gaming and Edward Gaming, the LPL has produced several World Champions, and they are always hungry for more. 4 teams are invited from this region.
 
3. LEC (League of Legends European Championship):
    
   • The LEC is where European talent shines. With a reputation for creativity and resilience, LEC teams like G2 Esports and Fnatic have made a significant impact on the international scene. The LEC is also famous for its passionate fanbase and entertaining broadcasts, making it a key region to watch. 3 teams are invited from this region.
 
4. LCS (League of Legends Championship Series):
    
   • Representing North America, the LCS is known for its unique mix of veteran players and rising stars. Teams like Cloud9 and Team Liquid have had their moments of glory and are looking to prove themselves on the world stage. The LCS may be the underdog, but it’s always full of surprises. 3 teams are invited to this region.
